A culturally responsive mobile-health companion

Kawu Balya is a mobile health solution designed to improve access to healthcare in remote communities such as the Pilbara. Built with cultural awareness at its core, the app empowers users who have limited access to clinics to manage their health wherever they are.

Key features include personalised tracking, QR-code integration with Medi-Kit, and tailored health and exercise recommendations. The app functions reliably in low-connectivity environments and offers a simple, intuitive interface with secure PIN login and consent-based data sharing—so patients can safely track and share health data during outreach visits or remote consultations.

By bridging the healthcare gap for rural and Indigenous communities, Kawu Balya delivers real value where it’s needed most: at the edge of the system. Whether used by individuals, health services, or public-health initiatives, the Patient Companion App is a practical tool for better outcomes and stronger community connections.
